Malta has competed in the Eurovision Song Contest seventeen times, debuting in the Eurovision Song Contest I.
History[]
Malta debuted in the inaugural contest held in Horsens, Denmark with Rihanna Nijali singing "Forever" which was selected internally. Nijali placed 11th in the semi-final and didn't qualify for the final. In the next contest in Oulu, Finland, Malta sent Gwann Rapa singing "Torn", which was selected internally. Rapa placed 17th in the semi-final and didn't qualify for the final. In the next contest held in Kharkiv, Ukraine, Saint Mississippi and their song "Mama Told Me" were selected internally to represent Malta. They placed 11th in the semi-final and didn't qualify for the final. In the fourth contest, Malta sent young singer Jeanine Elvira and her song "Give My Heart (To You)". Elvira placed 3rd in the semi-final and 8th in the final. In the fifth contest, Malta sent British singer Lucas Richardson and his song "Thunder & Lightning" to the contest in Riga. Richardson placed 17th in the semi-final and didn't qualify for the final.
