Belgium has competed in the Eurovision Song Contest seventeen times, debuting in the Eurovision Song Contest I.
History[]
Belgium debuted in the inaugural contest held in Horsens, Denmark with Liam Botia singing "Give It All" which was selected internally. Botia placed 8th in the semi-final and 19th in the final. In the next contest in Oulu, Finland, Belgium sent Jason Dubois singing "Rags to Riches", which was selected internally. Dubois placed 13th in the semi-final and didn't qualify for the final. In the next contest held in Kharkiv, Ukraine, it was decided that Beglian representative would alter each contest, one contest being from Flanders and the next from Wallonia. Walloon singer Thomas Noël was selected internally and his song "Applause" was selected in Vous choisissez la chanson, the Walloon selection show. He placed last in the semi-final and didn't qualify for the final. In the fourth contest, the Flemish people were given the right to represent Belgium. Gabriel Peeters and his Dutch-language song "Revoluties" were selected. Peeters placed 12th in the semi-final and didn't qualify for the final. In the fifth contest, the Walloons people were given the right to represent Belgium. The country sent Dominique Gautier and her song "L'amour en août". Gautier came in 17th place in the semi-final and didn't qualify for the final.
